Since the start of May, local fashion label Proudrace has been dropping hints of a new release in the form of simple 2×2 photographs. You know, those photographs in which you don’t look your best because of the direct flash and the studio’s unforgiving environment. But okay, the Proudrace teasers were so good. The models were shot against a white background. The results are simple, clean photographs without any pretense—I wish Paolo Crodua could shoot my next 2×2, too. And then last night, Proudrace finally unveiled its latest collection online.

At first glance, the collection evokes a change of direction from previous collections. Proudrace still focuses on deconstructing and reconstructing garments, only this time, the brand leaves behind its signature grungy streetwear look for a more mature and sophisticated take on wardrobe essentials that Proudrace can, well, be truly proud of.
In this collection, Proudrace showcases a range of coats, jackets, and tops with extended flaps. Denim is prevalent in the collection as usual, but the label also explores new materials like shearling and leather. Speaking of leather, Proudrace is officially delving into footwear design and production with their lamb cowboy boots. The label has done socks before—that’s still considered footwear, right?—but creative director Rik Rasos says this is their first “legit” footwear.
