Before I was a K-pop stan, I used to be that kid in high school who listened to Fueled by Ramen bands, sported side bangs, and wore black every time I went out with friends. Panic! at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Mayday Parade–you name it, I probably had them on my trusty iPod video. But long gone were those days and now all I listen to these days are alternative R&B and yes, K-pop.
Music tastes come and go but it seems like K-pop idol BTS’ RM (formerly Rap Monster) is all set on bringing back all those elementary-high school feelings back by collaborating with punk pop legends Fall Out Boy. Fans hyped up the track hours before the drop through the hashtag #RMxFallOutBoy, and unsurprisingly, it trended worldwide on Twitter.
The song, a remix of Fall Out Boy’s “Champion,” includes empowering rap parts from RM and it’s obvious that he did not disappoint.
