Welp. Despite a lot of dream Korean celebrity couples getting together (including Reply 1988 alumni Hye Ri and Ryu Jun Yeol), we can’t have all the good things in life. We were all rejoicing when we heard that Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung hooked up offscreen, but I guess everything has to come to an end. (read: They’re over)
We’re kind of being masochists here, but let’s not forget that these two did bring one of the best onscreen couples to life–Kim Bok Joo and Jung Joon Hyung of the world renowned K-drama, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.
Instead of crying about it, why don’t we all just relive their best scenes together from the show?

Here’s our favorite Bok Joo/Joon Hyung scenes from WFKBJ.
1. The iconic swimming pool scene
It’s basically the scene that hooked everyone into the Weightlifting Kim Bok Joo virus. I mean, who wouldn’t swoon over an attractive, muscled guy rescuing a girl from drowning and holding her in his strong arms? It’s the female gaze at its best.
2. Joon Hyung uses Bok Joo as a human shield
This is basically that scene from To the Beautiful You (starring SHINee’s Min Ho and former f(x) member Sulli) gone utterly wrong. Not every couple is perfect and romantic and this is why we love Joon Hyung and Bok Joo.
3. Joon Hyung gets jealous (and a Ji Soo cameo!)
Bok Joo gets all buddy-buddy with her new co-worker played by Nam Joo Hyuk’s IRL bestie, Ji Soo. But in WFKBJ, Joon Hyung isn’t too happy about this and is hilariously hostile around the new guy. This eventually sparks their relationship in…
4. First kiss
Let the swooning commence! No words needed, just full-on kilig.
5. Amusement park date
Joon Hyung so badly wanted to impress Bok Joo during this sequence that it was so funny watching him try. But hey, it worked. And we weren’t so wary about matching couple outfits in here–they actually looked pretty cute.
6. Snow kiss
See number 4. Also, it’s great to see the girl take initiative for once in a K-drama!
7. Jealous Bok Joo
All of you know it–this got viral online. Lee Sung Kyung really has a knack for comedy and she shines bright in this scene. No one touches Bok Joo’s man and she makes sure people know it (and have Joon Hyung shaking in fear while at it).

We hope all our OTPs stay strong! Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, ya’ll better take ‘til death do us part’ seriously once you get married.
