In case you didn’t know, “Resident Evil Village,” the latest installment to the series, is dropping this week. And thanks to its demo, people have already made mods. The main highlight? Barney as a monster. (Because, uh, internet.)
Developed by @MarcosRCRE, the creator was able to successfully squeeze in some modding in the limited time the demo has to offer. In their childhood-ruining version that’ll scare even Mr. Sun, the game’s monsters are replaced by a bunch of big purple creatures that are undeniably mid-’90s icon Barney the Dinosaur.

With the mod, players can get to kill or maim the purple dino with their weapon of choice, complete with gruesome and bloody effects. In the walkthrough, the Barneys are spotted trailing the user in the cellar of Castle Dimitrescu as they attempt to pummel them with swords and the brute strength of a fluffy dinosaur. Is it even creepier than the OG version? Probably.
The mod is available on the creator’s Patreon page. “Resident Evil Village” will be available on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S, so safe to say we can expect more nightmare fuel to come. (Might I suggest “Teletubbies”?)
