The Sundance Film Festival is a dream festival of every filmmaker. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker or a veteran in the field, this film festival crossed your bucket list. It is the same festival that gave James Wan, Paul Thomas Anderson and Jordan Peele their break in the film circuit.
Now, it’s time for you to live your Sundance dreams through their masterclasses. Oh, and did we mention these are for free?
On Apr. 1 (not an April Fool’s joke), Sundance Film Festival announced that Sundance Collab is giving free access to their masterclasses. This includes an immersive writing workshop, social activism through television, crafting a web series and many more. These classes are helpful and topical to unlock the potential of any visual storyteller out there.
“To make it a bit easier for everyone for the next few months, we are going to make all of our member webinars and master classes free to attend,” reads their press statement. “We will soon be adding a focus for any ideas, questions or concerns you want to share with us, where questions will be answered by Sundance Institute staff and artist mentors, advisors and alumni.”

Your masterclass mentors vary from Sundance alumni to industry professionals. As for the classes, it ranges through film writing, production and other elements of the craft. Notable masterclasses are the scriptwriting class held by Meg LaFauve of “Inside Out,” making branded content by Refinery29’s Stacy Fuller and episodic writing from “The Walking Dead’s” Glenn Mazzara.
