We’ve always been told to respect older people: relatives, authorities, strangers, you name it. Granted that not everything they do is commendable or exemplary, society pretty much dictates that we still owe them some form of courtesy.
The anti-hero in this upcoming Netflix film however has absolutely no respect for the elderly, and she pays the price for it (oh, and it’s more than a spanking and a long sermon).
Netflix just dropped the trailer for “I Care A Lot,” a dark comedy-slash-thriller film following Marla Grayson, a legal counsel who makes money out of scamming the elderly and draining their assets, all while trapping them under her care.
She seems like the bad B at first, getting away with her schemes, until she becomes the legal guardian of an old woman with connections to a powerful gangster.
The film stars Rosamund Pike, who played Amy Dunne in “Gone Girl,” the critically acclaimed thriller that helped Pike bag several Best Actress awards (and the same film that Anne Hathaway described as “romantic comedy”). Also in the cast are Dianne Wiest, Eiza Gonzalez and Peter Dinklage.
“I Care A Lot” was written and directed by J Blakeson, and premiered at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is coming to Netflix on Feb. 19.
Was I scared of Amy and her ability to elaborately, sneakily do what she did in “Gone Girl?” Terrified. Will I be watching this film? Absolutely; I’m turning on my notifs for it right now.
