The Team’s Favorites From Last Week (09/26/2016)

Time flies so fast; it’s October now. But before we rave about Halloween, Christmas, and all the holidays in between, let’s go week by week in terms of the Scout team’s favorites. You know the drill: we list down what piqued our interest from the past week just ’cause. No, really.

The past week, it feels like we’re heavy into the senses: beauty products that make us smell and look good, stuff we like to read, and food we love to eat. Shout out to Mcdonalds for making it twice on the same week.. Check out the first of our October faves below:

PEPI, Editor in chief, @roiswar

Penshoppe Style Series Nautical Eau de Toilette for Men — Been looking for a new scent for a while now, and this simple and light daytime scent from Penshoppe is a pleasant surprise in a sexy blue bottle. I’m no sailor, but I dig it.
The McSpicy — Yoooo I heard this was back! You don’t even have to pay me to go shill it, as I subsisted on the McSpicy for pretty much as long as it was around a couple of years ago. I know what I’ll be having for lunch for like a month.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt — I’m a couple of years late on this, but I finally had time to check it out a few weeks back and started to bingewatch it lately. I missed the 30 Rock brand of humor that’s clearly present on Kimmy Schmidt (naturally, as it’s a Tina Fey brainchild).

GRACE, Art Director, @graceyyd

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath – The line that probably struck me the most when I read this book was “I wanted change and excitement and to shoot off in all directions myself, like the colored arrows from a Fourth of July rocket.” Best describes what I feel at the moment.

The Case of JonBenet Ramsey (two-part series) – I mentioned this on my previous #ScoutFaves and now that I was able to watch it, I just have to put it here again! Two words: MUST. WATCH.

Chicken Mcdo – I was stress eating this week and this was the object of my stress eating affection, along with mushroom soup.

DENISE, Editorial Assistant, @denibeans

Pottermore – I haven’t opened my Pottermore account in years. When they recently released the Patronus test, I had to take it because god knows how much I love taking quizzes! I resurrected my account and re-did all the quizzes–I’m still a Hufflepuff, my Ilvermony house is Thunderbird, and my Patronus is a white mare. Kind of bummed that I’m a true blue Hufflepuff despite being 90% sure that I’m a Ravenclaw deep down, but whatever. One of my favorite actors, Eddie Redmayne, is a Hufflepuff and that’s good enough for me. #RoadtoHufflepuffAcceptance

Oh, Flamingo – I was at Moonwlk’s music video launch last Wednesdayand Oh, Flamingo played this great new slow song about feelings. I’m devastated that there isn’t a copy of it online. I don’t even know what the title is. If any band member is reading this, please feel free to let me know.

Iope Bio Essence – This is my holy grail skincare product. People call this a miracle water and it’s the truth. I put this on my list since I’m almost done with my third bottle. It’s unfortunately not budget friendly, but it’s the only thing I need to keep my skin at its best.

LEX, Editorial Assistant, @lexcereal

Wax Poetics Issue No. 2 With Giorgio Moroder and Ratatat – Thank you Booksale. For recommendations, check out Ratatat’s “Lex,” and Daft Punk’s “Giorgio by Moroder.”

Mac Miller’s “The Divine Feminine.” – I don’t know how to write about music, but I wrote about this album anyway because I love it so much. How can you be so upfront about what you do in bed while being so sweet? Mac shows you how.

Japanese Souvenir Jackets – No shame! I’ve never been to Japan, but this was number one on my pasalubong list from my dad when he went to Yokohama for a business trip. Am I cooler now?
