While not everyone can book tickets to Japan and live the Studio Ghibli fantasy IRL, there’s another way to get close to the experience: Recreate their visually mouthwatering food (because, after all, the film franchise is also very much known for that). “Kiki’s Delivery Service” enjoyers are specifically in luck.
A new official recipe book by Studio Ghibli lets fans recreate the food existing in the 1989 fantasy film’s realm. The 64-page work features a variety of dishes and snacks that are either seen in the movie or are inspired by it, such as the roasted herring and pumpkin pie, Osono’s milk soup, Witch’s ribbon snack, and Black cat lollipop cake, among others.
And of course, who would forget Madame’s special chocolate cake? It’s such an iconic element in the movie that even food challenge videos give it spotlight.
Apart from making these fictional favorites and peculiar picks come to life, the recipes are also said to be easy to understand, so you can let your younger sibling tag along, too.
“Kiki’s Delivery Service” follows the 13-year-old titular character as she takes on a journey of becoming a witch-in-training, which eventually lets her put up an air courier service.
While the official release of the cook book is scheduled on March 14, you can already place your orders online (and finally try your luck in the kitchen).
