PSA: E-commerce platform Lazada’s “Add-to-Life” project has opened the call to aspiring student-directors aged 25 and below.
By joining the contest, you’ll get a chance to bag a film production grant worth P1 million and be guided by famed director “Direk” Joey Reyes—and to see your silver screen fantasies materialize.
A blockbuster initiative under the arts and culture thrust of Lazada’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework, “Add-to-Life” provides the Filipino youth with a viable platform to pursue their passions and unleash their creative talents.
Encouraging healthy competition and motivating them to put their best ideas centerstage, Lazada seeks to empower the Gen Z and Millennial film crowd with the opportunity to tap into their highest potential.
The winner will also be able to hone their skill set and grow as a budding filmmaker by working directly with Direk Joey Reyes, recipient of multiple accolades from the Metro Manila Film Festival, Gawad Urian, and Filipino Star Awards, for works such as “Pahiram ng Isang Umaga” and “Batang PX.”
Participants must submit a 300-word (or less) concept paper for a 5-minute film on what they would like to “add to life.” A pitch deck with supplementary photos, videos, treatment, and techniques must be submitted as well, alongside a filmography (including previous works, awards, or recognitions) if applicable.
Delving into the depth of the film creation process, the contest will evaluate initial concept entries. One standout entry will be chosen and brought to screening with a viewing event and appreciation night befitting a champion.
Judging criteria for submissions will focus on: idea or concept of Add-to-Life, Filipino values embodied in the concept, originality, creativity, and message impact.
Those who are looking to take on the challenge may send their requirements to [email protected] with the subject: “FullName_AddXXtoLife” (e.g. JamesTan_AddPowertoLife)—on or before Aug. 21, 2023.
You may send in your entries and take action towards making your visionary concepts (and insights on life) into concrete works of art on the big screen.
