No plans this Friday? Cap off your week with this free concert in Zambales

Apart from the therapeutic sound of sea waves in Zambales, another thing that can make you stay is the music of young and thriving Olongapo-based artists—and you can catch this at a free concert this Friday, July 7.

No hangout plans yet? This is your sign to take a break from your packed weekday routine and witness more talents in the local music scene.

In collaboration with independent group Eight Paths, Subic Bay’s specialty coffee shop Hometown Cafe presents Homegrown, a non-profit intimate concert showcasing local musicians from Olongapo, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Le Soleil Et La Lune in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales.

Among the headliners is R&B and soul singer Ludvian. Just last month, Ludvian released an EP titled, “Villain Arc,”  and you can check out more of this artist’s work on YouTube and SoundCloud.

Also in the lineup of homegrown artists are rap duo Gambl€, Dreamville band, hip-hop artist Wygian, and hardcore rap group Indigo Friends

In a quick chat with RG Medestomas, one of Hometown Cafe’s owners and Manila-based photographer, being an artist himself pushes him more to highlight further talents from various fields. “We believe visibility and representation for budding and aspiring artists is important. Let’s be honest, that is one of the ways they can break into the industry and eventually earn whilst enjoying their craft,” RG says.

Besides bringing great coffee to Olongapo in just five months of preparation, Hometown Cafe aims to extend its walls to build community: a space to gather not just for coffee, but for great music as well.

“With Hometown Cafe having a platform, we make sure to also use it for the good and that to us is uplifting local artists and more,” he adds.
