Christina Ricci is starring in Tim Burton’s ‘Addams Family’ series

To all the goth kids who made Wednesday Addams their personality at one point, it’s finally our time. Christina Ricci, a.k.a. ’90s Wednesday, is heading to Tim Burton’s upcoming “Addams Family” series—but not as her former character.

Previously announced last year, the live-action series titled “Wednesday” is set to be Burton’s TV directorial debut. Ricci, who played the solemn goth kid blueprint in 1991’s “The Addams Family” and 1993’s “Addams Family Values,” will reportedly star in the series in a role currently kept under wraps.

Deadline also says that Ricci could have been brought in after Thora Birch’s exit mid-production, who was originally set to play Wednesday’s dorm mom and “normie” Tamara Novak. According to them, Ricci’s character isn’t strictly a recast, but a new character.

The series and new addition to the “Addams Family” lore will include eight episodes honed in on Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega), who attempts to master her budding psychic abilities, all while a monster-killing spree and a supernatural mystery strike her local town. As for the rest of the Addams household, Catherine Zeta-Jones is signed in to play Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley.

There’s no definite date yet for when “Wednesday” will hit streaming screens, but while we wait, here’s another series that’s all about our fave death-obsessed girl (with more adulting).
