Dig up your ol’ compowders and laser lipsticks, folks. A new season of “Totally Spies!” is reportedly in development.
The French animated series’ former storyboard coordinator and creator of “Miraculous Ladybug” Thomas Astruc broke the news on Twitter, Jan. 9.
“I don’t know if it’s already [well-known], all over [the] internet or what but I’ve just learned that… THERE’S A NEW SEASON OF TOTALLY SPIES IN THE MAKING!” he wrote, capping the tweet off with lyrics from the Y2K show’s theme song.
Responding to users’ questions, the animator clarified that he isn’t involved in the project itself, as he came across the info through a job opening in a professional group.
“[It] makes me very happy. It was one of the first western action/comedy series with girls leading. They paved the way for many after them,” he wrote. “So I’m happy to see them back. And as animation technologies improved, it should be even better!”
Sam, Clover, and Alex’s spy adventures first came into our TV screens back in 2001, which followed the three girls’ double lives as high school students and undercover agents. The show’s last episode aired in 2013 for season 6, so it’s no surprise that we’re begging for crumbs when it comes to the W.O.O.H.P. girls.
As of writing, there’s yet to be an official announcement or a confirmation whether this shiny new “Totally Spies!” is the awaited seventh season or a complete reboot. Whatever it is, we’ll always have free episodes on YouTube, right?
