Kids, the tinfoil hat stays on during “Spider-Man.” The “No Way Home” trailer has been released, and it, expectantly, has a ton of bad dudes. But if the internet were to be believed, some heroes are glaringly gone from the picture—like, literally.
“Spider-Man” fans blessed with 20/20 vision are convinced that former Spidey actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have been edited out of a shot in the recent “Spider-Man: No Way Home” trailer. Near the end of the three-minute preview, viewers can spot Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in a big battle and on the verge of attacking villains Electro, Sandman, and Lizard.
My first thought: Three against one? That ain’t fair. But the internet has reached the conclusion that editors may have deliberately tampered with the scene, omitting an appearance by Maguire and Garfield. In the same shot, Electro and Lizard appear to be charging in different directions, with Lizard seemingly punched by an invisible presence.
The speculation follows after long-standing rumors and supposed “leaked” images of Maguire and Garfield’s roles in the upcoming “Spider-Man” film, which sees Holland’s Peter Parker cracking open the multiverse. There are denials of the rumored appearances, of course, but Marvel fans know when a potential lie pops up.
Anyway, we only have a month left until we find out whether or not we’re delusional. (But if you live in the Philippines, you might have to wait till Jan. 8—unless fans change that.)
