Folks, Nadine Lustre has been busy lately. Fresh off news of her acting comeback alongside a new single, the multi-hyphenate queen is dabbling into another thing altogether: NFTs.
The former Scout cover girl has launched “rare audio collectibles” through NFT landscape Enter Audio. Short for “non-fungible tokens,” NFTs are basically one-of-a-kind trading cards that exist in the digital space. And in this case, the NFT in question is Nadine’s latest soulful track “Wait For Me”—which now has 1,031 freshly minted copies.
According to the folks over at Enter Audio, this foray into the NFT scene “democratizes” the creation of art.
“[In our platform,] they (artists) can opt to have as much as 20 percent in royalties on all future resales of their music, making sure that their wallet holdings increase with the value of their works,” Enter Audio said in a statement.
But for anyone who’s been on the internet lately, NFTs are a touchy subject. Aside from issues of art theft with creators on Twitter, a major red flag for most is the cryptocurrency’s potential drastic effects on the environment. But for those siding with Team NFT, some attempts have been made to create so-called “eco-friendly” NFTs—by the United Nations, no less—while other artists are all for its “pro-artist” benefits.
What’s your take on this? Tweet us at @scoutmagph. (In the meantime, you can jam to “Wait For Me” below—no NFT ownership required.)
