Ah, the peach scene. You know what I’m talking about: the Timothée Chalamet-starring “Call Me By Your Name” scene forever etched into our heads, prompting us to rethink a certain type of fresh produce. (And no, not even the Biebs can change that.)
Well, it seems that a lot of folks are onboard that train of thought. According to a study done by FandomSpot, the famous “CMBYN” scene has clinched a spot in the top 10 steamiest scenes in recent movie and TV history, landing in fourth place. The moment in question depicted Chalamet’s character Elio masturbating with the fruit, which made test audiences’ heart rates rise by an average of 29 percent. It was beaten by the literal bed-breaking scene in Marvel’s Netflix series “Jessica Jones” (32 percent), the much-parodied scene pottery scene from “Ghost” (35 percent), and the top pick, the final sex scene in series “Normal People” (38 percent).
- Final sex scene in “Normal People” – 38%
- Pottery scene from “Ghost” – 35%
- The bed breaking scene from “Jessica Jones” – 32%
- Peach scene from “Call Me By Your Name” – 29%
- Alex and Piper first shower scene from “Orange Is the New Black” – 27%
- The post-fight rough sex scene in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”– 27%
- Dr. Izzie asking Dr. Karev to take his pants off before hooking up in “Grey’s Anatomy” – 25%
- Jonathan Pine baring his bottom while getting intimate with Jemima “Jed” Marshall in “The Night Manager” – 25%
- Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” – 23%
- Noah and Allie undressing each other before getting intimate for the second time in “The Notebook” – 20%
As a side note, the study also found that the more “real” the sex is, the more it got audiences’ hearts pumpin’. Rates increased by at least 35 percent with awkward convos and interactions into account. (A win for realism!)
Who would’ve guessed that one of the hottest scenes in history includes making love to an inanimate fruit? We probably won’t see a version 2.0 now that the “Call Me By Your Name” sequel’s probably canceled, but hey, at least we’ll always have the peach scene.
