Watch musician TALA do a deep dive into her anime boy fixation

Sometimes, the people we like are oblivious to our existence. And before you crucify me for being sappy, here’s a clarification: I’m talking about literally fictional people.

Making the cut are our anime crushes: brave, funny, charismatic, and often can’t take a hint from three people in their own world who like them (and 568,495 people in the real world). Add a devil-may-care ethos, a pinch of smugness, and a solid punch of character development. Mix well. And voila, the love of your life.

If you’re thinking of too many names that fit the bill, local musician TALA gets it. In the second episode of our “Your Fave’s Fave” series we talk to the “24” singer-songwriter about her long history with anime—from “Noragami” to “Attack on Titan”—and the boys (a.k.a. husbando) who’ve swept her off her feet.

“Most of the things that I write are actually inspired or influenced by [the] media that I consume, and that’s definitely the main way it manifests into other aspects of my life,” she says. “I really enjoy good stories that make you think, and I noticed that a lot of that can come from anime, which is probably why I like it so much.”
