‘Luto’ (not a cooking game) is inspired by first-person horror ‘P.T.’

In this “P.T.”-deprived world, how else can we get sated? While we don’t have the full game—because TBH, we don’t know if we’ll ever get it—lookalikes are still here for us. The latest one? “Luto,” a first-person horror game that eerily looks like “P.T.”

Created by Broken Bird Games, “Luto,” dubbed as a “psychological horror game” explores grief and depression, and takes the elements we all know and love/hate from the cult classic playable demo “P.T.”

“Your mind can be a prison. Filled with your worst memories, this prison looks like a maze whose escape looks like an impossible task,” reads the game’s official description. “‘Luto’ is a narrative adventure that tries to reflect on themes such as depression and anxiety in the darkest of settings.”

Just like “P.T.”, “Luto” takes the player into a maze-like corridor of an empty home, decorated in ’60s-esque homely fashion. The short teaser for the game is interspersed with shots like these just as a crackling voiceover speaks: “The worst part about Hell is not the flames; it’s the hopelessness.”

After its release in 2014, “P.T.” became a cult fave, becoming the subject of pages upon pages of YouTube Lets Plays. It was revealed to be a playable teaser (hence, “P.T.”) for a full game from the “Silent Hill” ’verse directed by video game designer Hideo Kojima and filmmaking auteur Guillermo del Toro. But alas, just like the character in the game, the project never saw the light of day.

For now, we at least have “Luto.” The game will be available on PlayStation and PC. The release date, however, is yet to be confirmed, but you can check out the teaser below.
