Women and LGBTQ+ still struggle for their space in cinema. Fortunately, there are organizations that are dedicated to highlighting their talents. S/O to aspiring screenwriters, here’s your chance to join an online writing lab for women and queers.
The screenwriting lab, which runs for four weeks starting Oct. 2021, is hosted by The Black List, an organization that releases an annual list of “extraordinary screenwriting, some of which may have been overlooked more broadly” from votes made by executive film producers.
The lab will host six non-professional and deserving participants who identify with underrepresented genders (women, NB/GNC, and/or trans, and others). Interested applicants must submit a script and undergo several interviews to be shortlisted among the official submissions.
The online writing lab will run via Zoom twice weekly for four weeks beginning October 5, 2021, and will consist of “script development, peer workshopping sessions and Master Classes with established writers and industry executives.” Lab participants get the chance to be read by agencies and networks in the industry.
Submission period closes on July 22 so aspiring writers, what are you waiting for? Sign up and get that screenwriter dream going. If you’re ready to send that script, register here.
