As a resident of the Lee Min Ho cinematic universe, I would take no further objections today.
This morning, Oct. 15, the internet broke with the news of Lazada’s first regional ambassador—everybody’s favorite K-Drama guy Lee Min Ho. Yes, the face of this superstar actor, singer and model will start dominating our screens during indecisive, time-pressuring events when our wallets are looking at us confused from afar (exhibit A: The much-awaited 11.11 sale).
“Lee Min Ho’s exuberant, optimistic and encouraging personality resonates with Lazada shoppers… We are thrilled that Lee is Lazada’s Heartthrob and the strong alignment with our brand,” said Lazada’s Group chief marketing officer Mary Zhou in a statement, according to ABS-CBN.
As Lazada Philippines asked everyone on Instagram, “Are you ready for Lee Min Ho for Lazada 11.11?” it’s difficult not to hear the metaphorical, collective “we’ve always been” from the audience. Especially those who’ve witnessed his metamorphosis—from the bad boy (but softie inside) Gu Jun Pyo in “Boys over Flowers” and the ambitious badass Lee Yoon Sung “City Hunter” to the warm-hearted Kim Tan in “The Heirs” and the skeptic but sensitive Lee Gon in the recently concluded “The King: Eternal Monarch.”
“Join @actorleeminho and experience non-stop happiness on our #LazadaBiggestOneDaySale! Save the date and add to cart now!,” Lazada PH added, and we’re not even a bit surprised by their Choices™. He’s hella talented, his charm is off the charts and uses his platform well. In a more rational measure, he’s the most followed Korean actor on Instagram.
So Lazada, if you’re reading this—yes, you can throw some Lee Min Ho standees our way. It’s a no-brainer add to cart.
