Isn’t life just about getting angry and streaming shit online these days?
There’s a multitude of ways to get your cinema fix. You can go to YouTube, Netflix or Disney+ (if you’re bougie). The only problem with these platforms is they don’t give you a lot of criterion or experimental film options.
Where’s the drama of interpreting a surreal mise en scene? Or analyzing symbolisms of the said film?
Thanks to the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Arthouse Cinema, art and film kids have something to look forward to every month: They’re bringing arthouse archives online. And as a sign of thanks, these films can be accessed for free.
“Watch films in just a few clicks! The CCP Arthouse Cinema is now online,” reads their Facebook post. “Stream films from Cinemalaya, Gawad Alternatibo, and other important works every month via CCP Online for free.”
Just in time for the National Indigenous People’s Month, CCP Arthouse Cinema online is kicking their online launch off with Ida del Mundo’s “K’na, The Dreamweaver” and Shaira Advincula’s “Tembong,” which will be available for 48 hours starting Oct. 8, 3 p.m.
