If you miss movie dates, a new drive-in theater’s opening soon

Under general community quarantine, recreational and entertainment establishments like gyms and net cafes are back in business. Though indoor cinemas are still a hard no, drive-in theaters are here for our longing for movie dates.

Drive-in theaters first popped up in July with SM Pampanga’s amphitheater. Now, SM is taking the drive-in theater experience to Metro Manila on Sept. 9 at SM Mall of Asia.

SM’s new drive-in theater is set to be on Block 16 of the concert grounds, which doubles as parking space when not as a concert venue for some of our faves like One Direction and Coldplay as well as local music festivals like Rakrakan.

Movies will be screening on Wednesdays to Sundays, with ticket bundles available at P400 per person. Each vehicle can only hold up to four people to ensure physical distancing.

Moviegoers will still have to wear their face masks and stay inside the vehicle as they watch the movie. SM also recommends having only two people in the vehicle to enjoy the “best view.”
