Whether you’re deep into art, creative writing, fashion or film, you know that Yayoi Kusama remains a multidisciplinary icon. She may be the art coach most of us will never have, but at least we’re given a new portal to jump into her space with her latest book.
According to Dazed, a new biography about the 91-year-old Japanese contemporary artist uncoils in “Kusama: The Graphic Novel,” by Thai-Italian illustrator Elisa Macellari and published by Laurence King. This “dubbed biography” and graphic novel dissects the timeline of the influential figure’s life—from her adventures as a young artist in rural Japan to her milestones in New York’s art scene.
While the artist’s hypnotizing exhibitions are on hiatus because of the pandemic, allow this graphic novel to sync with your feelings. TBH, we could look at these sneak peek pages all day.
“Kusama: The Graphic Novel” will be released on Sept. 15 on Laurence King’s website.
