Support F&B workers’ rights, get a cute t-shirt from this design initiative

Manila food and beverage businesses are still struggling to survive. Although delivery is an option during this pandemic, it’s not enough to support rent, salaries and other expenses these local restaurants might need right now. Is there anything we can do to support them apart from their takeout goods?

Enter Manila Takeout, a design initiative working with creatives to make merch in support of local restaurants. All proceeds go to the workers of said restaurants.

Inspired by R/GA’s Merch Aid and other global heritage brand fundraisers, Manila Takeout unites creatives and restaurateurs in this time of crisis. They partner with local artists like Betsy Cola, Dan Matutina, Marla Darwin and Strange Mercy to create merch for our fave local restos. So far, they’ve made merch for El Union Coffee, Wildflour, El Chupacabra and Milky Way.

“We partner Philippine restaurants and Filipino artists to create limited-edition merchandise,” says Manila Takeout’s website. “One hundred percent of the sale’s proceeds will go directly to the restaurant’s staff and service team—the very people that make our favorite places so special.”

These restaurants housed our dates, caffeine-fueled caffeine sessions and HOHOLs with the crew. It’s time we give back reppin’ the merch local creatives made for them.
