After announcing that voter registration will resume in July, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has once again delayed it for another two months.
Comelec announced through its online channels that voter registration, including satellite registration, has been suspended until August 31.
As the country continues to deal with the global COVID-19 crisis, people have channeled their frustrations over the government’s response online. The hashtag #Halalan2022 trended in March after a photo op at the House of Representatives drew flak on social media.
While we still can’t vote, we can still do our part by educating ourselves, engaging actively in issues that matter to us and constantly checking our privilege. Remember: Your vote counts.
