Sarah Elago continues to be that queen™ with her Politician of the Year nomination

Sarah Elago continues to emanate that big dalagang Filipina energy™. Following the Philippines youngest lawmaker’s achievements, her latest nomination as One Young World’s Politician of the Year comes as no surprise. Elagonatics, 2020 might just be our year.

She shared the news last night, Jun. 25, on her Instagram. “We commit to serving the people, and continue bringing in politics of hope, action and change,” wrote Sarah. “Stand united by our mandate to raise and empower voices of the youth and the people. Likewise, we, in Kabataan, are honored to be listed with and alongside these fellow young public servants from around the globe, congratulations!”

One Young World’s Politician of the Year shortlist is based on a global call for politicians impacting young people within their communities. Through this shortlist, five young politicians will be recognized for using their positions for the greater good. The winners will be announced around July.

Nominated alongside Sarah are Stockton, California mayor Michael Tubbs, Japan’s first openly transgender man in public office city council member Tomoya Hosoda⁣⁣, Afghanistan’s first ever female mayor Zarifa Ghafari and many other young politicians making moves to make their community a better place.

Sarah might not have won yet but if we’re being candid, this congresswoman being recognized in a huge global platform shows what young Filipinos are capable of.
