Vico Sotto: public servant, student motivator, and now a champion of true love. A tweet from the Pasig City Mayor showed off his latest stint as a marriage officiant, proving that true love prevails even in the darkest timelines—just don’t kiss beyond five seconds.
On Monday, Mayor Sotto presided over the wedding of two couples who have previously received their marriage licenses before the lockdown, putting their original plans on hold.
“Officiated the wedding of two couples today. Nakakuha sila ng marriage license bago pa mag-ECQ,” the tweet reads, which includes photos of the newlyweds.

But not even true love’s kiss can magically whisk away a pandemic like a good ol’ fashioned Disney movie. Sotto reminds the public to exercise proper physical distancing, even if they’re in their actual wedding. “Pinayagan silang magtanggal ng mask, five seconds lang para mag-kiss!”
The mayor also writes that couples with expiring marriage licenses should contact their office to reschedule their ceremonies. While you can’t have that foot-popping 15-second kiss straight out of a rom-com finale, love still waits for no one, pandemic be damned.
