Donate your extra WiFi-capable gadgets to Leni Robredo’s office

The verdict is in: Face-to-face classes are canceled until we have a COVID-19 vaccine. Until then, students will have to gear up to transition into online classes a.k.a. distance learning.

Of course, not every student has access to resources to make it through to the new normal. The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is now organizing a bayanihan drive to collect WiFi-capable gadgets for teachers and students in poor communities.

VP Leni Robredo and her team are asking for old smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers for donation. The OVP will be releasing additional details like minimum gadget specs in the following days, but it’s time to dig around for that old phone you replaced.

Other similar initiatives are being done by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, who is working on a barangay-level internet connection and purchasing learning devices for students.

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno has also announced their P994 million allocation to provide students with tablets and teachers with laptops and pocket WiFi devices.
