For their first-ever issue, traveling zine FAKE is throwing one hell of a launch party lasting all the way to June 27. Gear up for a digital celebration featuring artist talks, bedroom performances, merch, workshops and more.
FAKE’s issue 00 is entitled “Gangs of Manila,” a 40-page issue with four covers featuring photography by Renzo Navarro, Borgy Angeles, Andre Drilon and Mhar Udarbe. The issue is available for purchase in three different versions: black and white (P250), colored (P450) and magazine-type (P650).
The zine has also collaborated with a number of local fashion brands like 02-24 by JEYPEH*, ANTONINA, b.jpeg and VILQUIN to create one-of-a-kind upcycled tote bags which are available at FAKE’s online shop.
Not enough excitement for you yet? FAKE’s also holding a fair during the latter three weeks of the month, featuring three new artists and their works each week. Included in the lineup are Carl Cervantes, Estitiks, and Couch Merchandise. Watch out for upcoming musical performances from Alexandra, Andy Chlau, and JEYPEH* too.
On June 20, FAKE will also be staging a Manila-themed pop-up group artwork for a show in collaboration with Mashroom Gallery. The art will then be up for auction until June 25.
For the duration of the launch, all profits will go to the University of the Philippines Medical Center to help fund the creation of locally-made test kits. Supporting local artists and COVID-19 relief efforts? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, so don’t wait up.
The “Gangs of Manila” launch party runs from May 30 to June 27. Find out more about FAKE on their Instagram page.
