While public transport is put on hold during enhanced community quarantine, drivers are falling on hard times. Shoutout to companies like foodpanda who are helping out tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODAs) during lockdown.
foodpanda has recently signed an agreement with Pasig City to recruit 500 tricycle drivers. The new recruits will be provided with training sessions on safety protocols and contactless delivery systems, plus uniforms and thermo bags for free.
“One of the sectors that are really affected by this crisis is our tricycle drivers. In Pasig we have over 13,000 tricycle drivers. All of them have been hit by this crisis and a lot of them don’t know where to get their next meal from,” says Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. With initiatives like pandaTODA, hundreds of families can earn some income while waiting out the quarantine.
To make things better, foodpanda has been offering free deliveries throughout May. If you’re currently staying in Pasig, you can get comfort food from Jollibee, Pancake House, Max’s, Teriyaki Boy, Army Navy, TCapital, Opteamist, Mamita’s Inasal and Muramen, courtesy of foodpanda.
Free delivery plus helping out folks in need? Let me punch an order in, then.
