You can watch ‘Mula sa Buwan’s’ cabaret show this weekend

Maybe our Emo Hours™ are dropping by early. After an online release of Virgin Labfest’s “Hintayan ng Langit” and dozens more Filipino theater gems, it looks like another tearjerker is set to fly to our screens.

Update (05/15/20): “Mula sa Buwan” just gave us a poster of their upcoming online event. “Ating balikan ang mga masasaya at ‘di makakalimutan alaala ng One Night Stand presents ‘Minsan Sa Buwan,’” the caption reads, along with a date of May 16. Set to be released on One Night Stand: A Monthly Cabaret’s YouTube page, this event is expected to replay their previous cabaret show in collaboration with One Night Stand, where the cast members perform songs from and inspired by the musical. Are your tear ducts ready?

It looks like the team is treating their fans this quarantine. In a follow-up tweet, “Mula sa Buwan” teased an announcement on May 16. Before we get our hopes up again—no, it’s not a livestream. But we’re still as pumped.

Set in 1940s Manila, “Mula sa Buwan” follows the lives of ROTC cadets and college students living in hopeful innocence—set against the backdrop of traditional harana and kundiman. A war breaks out, testing their love and ideals, and soon enough, they’re forced to come to terms with the aftermath of a tragedy.

Directed by Pat Valera, this play has been dubbed the musical for the Filipino romantic, an exploration on youth and revolution, and a nest for an amazing soundtrack to boot. Consider this my listening party this weekend.
