Slipping into the Philippine cinema industry is a tricky task. But the right mentorship can be one heck of a springboard. If you’re a storyteller from Western Visayas, you’re in luck: 10 filmmakers just offered to mentor you for free.
“John Denver Trending” director Arden Rod Condez shared this on Facebook, announcing the online mentorship program he collaborated on with other pillars of local cinema. “We are looking for 10 projects-in-development (short film or full-length) to be mentored by filmmaking experts,” the poster reveals.
Aside from Condez, the mentor pool is composed of JP Habac, Rae Red, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, Jade Castro, Sheron Dayoc, Sonny Calvento, Zig Dulay, Dodo Dayao and Kenneth Dagatan. The mentors come from different filmmaking branches reflecting the course coverage: script development, directing, financing, branding and marketing strategy.
This chance rarely comes by, so shoot that damn shot. Send your one to two-page storyline to ardenrodcondez@gmail.com. It’s only until May 12. Good luck!
