Look alive sunshine, Gerard Way has four new tracks for us

Some My Chemical Romance fans might be bummed that the band’s reunion tour was put on hold this year. But don’t fret—their frontman Gerard Way has new material for us.

On Apr. 5, Way made the announcement through Instagram. He explained how he intended to release these demo tracks as singles. Due to the unforeseen events happening in the world, he decided to keep it casual instead and make these songs available on SoundCloud.

His SoundCloud contains four rough versions of new tracks: “Phoning It In,” “Crate Amp” and “Welcome to the Hotel.” “I’m calling all of this stuff Distraction Or Despair, since that seems to be the two things I keep shifting between. Probably a lot of other people too,” writes the singer. “I’m just winging it, keeping it casual.”

The tracks can be found through his Linktree on ‘gram. He also encourages everyone to donate to a COVID-19 response fund. Since he released these tracks to ease his fans’ pandemic anxiety, he took this time to bring awareness to others in need.

Last December, My Chemical Romance gave us the best Christmas present by reuniting. They ended 2019 with a seven-year overdue performance for lucky fans in Los Angeles. Sadly, their reunion tour dates in Japan, New Zealand and Australia have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
