Stare at the heavens for Astronomy Week with these free planetarium and stargazing shows

What’s the best thing about nighttime? Well okay, it’s sleep. But the second best thing? It’s the beauty of a starry night sky.

The country is celebrating National Astronomy Week from Feb. 16 to 22, and the good people over at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) are holding some fun and free (!!!) events to mark the occasion.

For the entire duration of Astronomy Week, there will be free planetarium shows and telescoping sessions at the PAGASA Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in UP Diliman. The planetarium shows will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday, while telescoping sessions will begin at 7 p.m. All activities will be on a first come, first served basis, so better step in line quick.

For Baguio peeps, PAGASA will also be setting up a mobile planetarium in the city for free shows from Feb. 20 to 21.

Now this is something worthy of a sleepless night. Our fingers are crossed for a shooting star.
