Margot Robbie returns with a blast of a ride as Harley Quinn in “Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).” After breaking up with the Joker, Harley leads a group of lesser-known DC characters who are finally taking the spotlight: Black Canary (Jurnee Smollet-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth-Winstead) Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez). Rounding up the main cast is Ewan McGregor as the charismatic and menacing Black Mask and Chris Messina as Batman baddie and psychopath Victor Zsasz.
The “Suicide Squad” spin-off serves as its big-screen debut of the following characters: Black Canary, Huntress, and Cassandra Cain. They steal each scene they’re in, proving that it is time for other DC characters to shine.
Fresh from the London premiere of the action-comedy, critics and fans have praised the film’s wild and crazy attitude. Kinda like “John Wick” but with glamour, glitters, and a ton of f-bombs. The film was also described as DC’s “Deadpool” with the mix of comedy, action, and gore blending really well with the character of Harley Quinn.
Tarantino stans might also wanna check this one out. We might get some “Pulp Fiction” vibes with how the story structure of the film is described as unpredictable and hyper-stylized. Let’s say thank you to “John Wick” director and stunt coordinator, Chad Stahelski, who helped in the choreography for the fantabulous action sequences in the film. That being said, the film doesn’t hold back when it comes to violence and gore. The R-rating of the film is described to fully utilize the overall tone of Harley’s character.
Don’t forget to wait for the credits to roll. There’s a little “something” that you don’t wanna miss.
Hold on for a little longer as “Birds of Prey (And the Emancipation of On Harley Quinn) hits Philippine theaters Feb. 7.
Still from “Birds of Prey”
