Although we wish it were actual lemonade because it’s so friggin’ hot right now, Beyonce does what she does best and drops another surprise album, “Lemonade.”
She dropped the record in the middle of the HBO broadcast of her short film of the same name. The diverse album, which according to a statement made to Rolling Stone is a “conceptual project based on every woman’s journey of self-knowledge and healing,” features guest appearances by acts such as Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Jack White, among others. Formation, the song she premiered at this year’s Super Bowl, is the last track on the record. However, the sad news is that for now, it’s only a Tidal exclusive.
At first, the film seemed to be some sort of metaphor or symbolic breakup with Jay Z, who’s rumored to have been unfaithful to her. There’s a chapter in the end called “Forgiveness,” though, that sees Beyonce hug a sad-looking Hova, that might imply this to be a symbolic “I-heard-all-the-talk-but-I-forgive-you” public gesture.
All we can legally share with you at the moment is this trailer from HBO:
