Fresh from bagging two wins at the American Music Awards—one for Best New Artist of the Year and Favorite Artist—Billie Eilish continues to ride up the hill of success, now with an experimental album down the line.
The 17-year-old singer’s collaborator and brother Finneas O’Connell talked with Billboard at the AMAs, where the producer mentioned that Billie’s next album will take an “experimental” turn. “There’s just a lot of stories we felt we didn’t get to tell yet,” he says.

“We’re just trying to tell all those and we’re being a little bit experimental. I think if you’re not trying to change things a little bit, you’re not evolving,” Finneas continues. “So I think we’re just trying to embrace everything that we are proud of in our music and also just try new things and experiment and give people stuff to look forward to.”
Like all sibling relationships (and collaborating tandems), their creative process is not without some bumps in the road. “You disagree with each other about things and then what we always say is whichever one of us is more passionate about the issue is the winner, because if you care about something enough to fight for it, that means it’s probably a good thing.” Finneas explains.

Released last March, Billie’s record “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” received several platinum certifications. For the album’s tour, the young singer gave away tickets for the benefit of environmental charity, Global Citizen. Really, Billie, who you callin’ a “bad guy”?
