Here’s what you need to register to vote for the next elections

We have no room for excuses now. If you did not vote last May 13 elections because you weren’t able to register, the universe is giving you an early chance to practice your right for the upcoming elections in your lifetime, especially the next national one in 2022.

Through a tweet, COMELEC (Commission on Elections) spokesman James Jimenez announced that the poll body will open for voter’s registration starting today, Aug. 1 to Sept. 30. Anyone who wants to have their name registered can come in any day of the week except Sundays in all COMELEC field offices, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They’re eyeing for stations in malls too, but they have yet to reveal the details about that.

All types of applications will be accepted: registration, transfer of registration record, reactivation, change of entries, inclusion of registration record and reinstatement of name in the list of voters.

Before heading to the office, make sure you’ve settled your requirements.  The following items are valid documents:

  • Employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
  • Postal ID ;
  • PWD Discount ID;
  • Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
  • Senior Citizen’s ID;
  • Driver’s license;
  • NBI clearance;
  • Passport;
  • SSS/GSIS ID;
  • Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
  • License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC);
  • Certificate of Confirmation issued by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in case of members of ICCs or IPs; and
  • Any other valid ID
