It’s official! Loki and our MCU faves are getting a new series

From stealing the Tesseract on the silver screen, Loki will be back to steal our hearts through our TV screens. And he’s not alone.

Marvel Studios confirmed the Loki spin-off last Thursday at Disney’s investor day. Thanks to their new streaming platform Disney+, Marvel Studios are making four spin-off shows of our favorite MCU characters. This includes new stand-alone shows with Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon, and The Winter Soldier.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the Loki series for another year. Although Marvel president Kevin Feige didn’t reveal much about the upcoming series, he confirms that Loki will still be the mischievous  character we all knew.  CBR also confirms that Tom Hiddleston is reprising his role for the show.

Meanwhile, The Falcon and Winter Soldier will be the first series to launch in this group of spin-offs. Kevin reveals to CNN that “the series will take a ‘deeper dive’ into the story of these two superheroes who started as enemies and became friends.” On the other hand, the 1950s inspired WandaVision will launch around Disney+ year two. The same year as Loki’s show.

There are no details about the release of Hawkeye yet. But by the sound of the details on Variety, it looks like these series will have the Marvel Now comics as a story guide. Jeremy Renner will be reprising his role as Hawkeye and the project will revolve around Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye.  The story is about Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye with his apprentice turned partner-in-crime Kate Bishop, to whom he gave the title of Hawkeye.

A little while back, Marvel canceled all of their Netflix series with little to no explanation. It looks like the launch of Disney+ might have something to do with it. Will they resurrect The Defenders saga? We can only hope, but the answer is uncertain as of the moment. On a brighter note, at least we have these new exciting series to hold onto.
