‘Ang Nawawala’ director has a new short film in the works

After seven years since the release of her debut feature film Ang Nawawala, Marie Jamora is back with another project.

Marie Jamora’s new short film is called “A Song For Myself.” Set in the mid-90s Las Vegas, the film follows an OFW lounge singer, who’s unable to decide between settling for a stable job and following her dream as a musician. This film tackles the age-old question of practicality vs. passion within fish out of water circumstances.

This is a story Marie molded as part of American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women. In this prestigious 40-year-old program, Marie is the first Filipina to ever take part in it. She’s following the footsteps of DWW’s alumni poet/activist Maya Angelou, The Walking Dead’s Tricia Brock, Jessica Jones’ Jennifer Getzinger, and Star Trek: Discovery’s Hanelle M. Culpepper.

Right now, Marie’s crowdfunding for her film. She has reached her goal of $30,000, but she’s stretching her goal to $40,000 for expenses such as set building, sound mixing, lenses, and the like.
