The SCOUT team’s most favorite moments at Wanderland

Ahhhh, summer is indeed about to arrive. The heat has returned to the city, and water interruptions are about to disturb us again. On the brighter side, the summer events we love have also come back. And what’s a better way to start summer than going to the beach? Wanderland.

Over the weekend, we drove down south to join the crowd in welcoming the dry season at Wanderland Music Festival. It’s certainly the premier Music and Arts festival in the Philippines. And on their seventh year, it looks like the festival is just set to be bigger and bigger every year.

This year, Karpos Multimedia brought Two Door Cinema Club and The Kooks to headline the 2019 edition of the festival. Along with the two headliners, Karpos Multimedia gave us a really, really good mix of both international and local acts. We know it’s a lot, so let us share with you the most magical moments a.k.a our most favorite moments at Wanderland.

Charlie Lim

Unique

Clairo

To tell you the truth, I don’t know why I went to Wanderland. I’ve been hearing about the music festival every year, but this is also my first time to go to the event. And uhhh, I really don’t know the lineup. Well, I listen to Charlie Lim and Unique, but I didn’t get to attend the first day of the event. On a side note, I had goosebumps when I saw Unique’s performance of “Mundo” on IG stories. I wish I was there.

Anyway, Clairo was fun to listen to. I loved her crowd. Then, I really got up to my feet and started dancing the night away when Masego went up on stage. But tbh, I was waiting for a performer to bring out Lady Gaga. Gets? Ally Maine? Okay, that’s not a very Scout joke. – Oliver Emocling, associate editor

Two Door Cinema Club

Masego

I went nuts when Two Door Cinema Club opened their set with “Undercover Martyn.” I also found myself joining the crowd when Masego played his sax. Seeing them both was beyond amazing! – Renz Mart Reyes, graphic designer

Honne

Honne

Seeing Honne was an experience. It’s my playlist live and I was thriving. I loved the visuals, the crowd, and how pumped they are to perform for their fans here. I love the mutual excitement from the artist and the audience. If you ask me, that’s a perfect formula for a night to remember. – Rogin Losa, editorial assistant

Luke Pritchard of The Kooks

The Kooks

“It’s in music festivals where I found my [music] heroes,” as Raymund Marasigan said this, I knew he was going to sing Betamax, and that’s when I felt alive. The crowd jumped. Rock ‘n roll signs raised up in the air. Raymund danced, and spilled water on the crowd. Priceless. My experience was a trip down memory lane, and it just went better and better when The Kooks came in, stealing the final spot of the show. I wish I’d see Rex Orange County, Hippo Campus, FUR, Gus Dapperton, Alvvays, Pale Waves, iDKHOW, and Modest Mouse next year. Okay, I know that looks like a full lineup already. – Jelou, editorial assistant

Masego

Adoy

Masego for sure! His set was wild, it felt like a stand-alone concert. I loved it even if I got called out for being an Android user. But it’s fine. I also got to meet the immensely talented, criminally underrated Adoy! They’re very cool. If you’re reading this, please give them a listen. – Giselle Barrientos, editorial assistant
