Don’t look now—Sunnies Studios, the popular homegrown brand for sunglasses and frames, launched its first line of prescription eyewear last July 6. Spearheaded by brand owners Georgina Wilson, Scout April 2016 cover girl Martine Cajucom, Eric Dee Jr., and Bea Soriano-Dee, Sunnies Specs wants to make the process of getting glasses easier for those who need it without sacrificing the Sunnies aesthetic.
The idea for Sunnies Specs came into the picture when customers who loved their frames “[wanted] to get everything they need in one piece,” Sunnies Marketing Director Georgina Wilson said at their launch party. The result was a new same-day service for an eye examination and a pair of signature Sunnies frames for P1,999.00.
Customers also have the option to upgrade their lenses to suit their needs: the different variants include protection against gadget screens, resistance to impact, or adaptation to light.
The launch party last July 6 drew a crowd of social influencers like Rajo Laurel, Scout December 2015-January 2016 cover girl Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Solenn Heussaff, Boom Sason, and Laureen Uy, among others.
Georgina, Martine, Eric, and Bea launched the first Sunnies Studios store at the SM Mall of Asia in 2013, and their next project in the Sunnies brand is comfort food with the soon-to-open Sunnies Cafe.
