In 2005, every teen was crazy about the Motorola Razr. My brother had it as his first phone; all I wanted back then was to grow older, so I could have that phone to. The mobile device didn’t just serve a purpose in connecting people, but it also turned into a style icon with a simple flip. Hello? Even Miranda Priestly had it as her phone in The Devil Wears Prada. And after 14 years since its first release, the Razr is about to change the way we use smartphones.
In a report from The Verge, the phone might make a comeback this year as a foldable screen smartphone worth $1,500. That is a bit more expensive than the iPhone XS and XR. No announcement has been made yet regarding the specifications of the new model, but The Verge indicates that it might come out as soon as February of this year. For Motorola Razr fans in the Philippines, we might have to wait; the rumored release is exclusive to Verizon only.
The question is, will this be a successful revival? If you’d remember, Motorola and Verizon tried to revive this phone minus the flip feature. That wasn’t cool, to be honest.
Well, I hope Motorola will stay true to the Razr aesthetic. That’ll change the smartphone game we have right now. Or maybe we could just settle with the original Razr. They could bring that one back too.
