You might have heard the saying, “The best camera is the one with you,” and whoever thought of that might be right. We have taken more pictures ever since manufacturers installed cameras in our phones and our culture today proves just that. According to the stats on Flickr, a popular photo sharing site, the 5 most popular cameras are smartphone cameras. Most of us have at least 1 app in our phone that deals with mobile photography, whether it be VSCO, Snapchat, or Instagram. The convenience of always having a camera with you, even if it’s just part of your phone, is essential for most. Now, the big photography companies are taking note.
Zeiss, a German brand famed for their lenses, are joining the smartphone photography market by introducing a three lenses for the iPhone 6/6s. These lenses are jointly made with the Exolens company and promise optical quality far better than anything else in the market. They are offering wideangle, telephoto, and macro lenses for the budding mobile photographer. Only the wideangle option is available now for $199 and the other two will be sold as standalone lenses later this summer. As of now, these lenses are only available from Apple, both in their retail and online stores. The question is: do you want to carry around extra lenses with you?
But if you’re really serious about your mobile photography, perhaps at the same level as this Magnum photographer, then you might want to check these Zeiss lenses out. Or you can always buy an actual camera with that money.
