Music and art lovers flocked to the scenic slopes of Museo Orlina, located in Hollywood Subdivision, Tolentino East, Tagaytay City, to witness this year’s group of artists showcase their projects live. The vibe was the same as any Tagaytay trip with the cool breeze cooling down the hearts and heads of out of towners and the drinks heating up the moments. With some of the country’s promising local visual artists to cater to your creative needs, and Filipino performers for an eargasmic experience, Tagaytay Art Beat 3 was the perfect way to end summer.
Art
If you’ve ever been to Art in the Park, the scene would be similar except your mom and tita wouldn’t be going around buying paintings. From painting to sculpting and experiential art, you can expect yourself leaving with that Pinoy pride after seeing these artists showcase their talent: Gab Loste, Jess de Leon, Lee Caces, Kim Pamela Co, Anthony Molina, Dennis Jimenez, Hannah Bundalian, Gab Baez, Jenny Gernale, Razel Mari, Dennis Bato, Lhean Storm, Mykie Concepcion.
Artists Jappy Agoncillo, Dee Jae Paeste, Miggy Antonio, Aral Cru and Kris Abrigo created live murals for the event.
Music
The mood was set by a number of eclectic artists who spanned through all genres. Acoustic acts like Leanne and Naara and I Belong to the Zoo set the mood. The energetic beat of bands like Ben&Ben, The Ransom Collective, and makata pop Munimuni got the crowd dancing. With hip-hop being a genre on the rise lately, local hip-hop artists such as Uprising Records‘ Anygma: Apoc x DJ Nicko, Kjah x Supreme Fist, and BLKD x The Tooters. Other acts such as Bea Lorenzo, Motherbasss, Mr. Bones & The Boneyard Circus were unmissable. The concert-goers moved to the drums’ beating with world beat-jazz-rock outfit Dayaw and djembe artist collective Adinkra Lumads. Lastly, no Pinoy event would be complete without a performance bythe classics, Mayonnaise and The Itchyworms. The crowd, despite the varying age brackets, swayed and sang to the lyrics.
With Art Beat’s aim to showcase local talent and unite those in and out of the metro, it’s easy to say they succeeded. Every year, the Philippine art industry has musicians and artists whose talents are rightfully recognized. Perhaps new creatives can join us in another Art Beat, or maybe your favorite band can tap finally the stage of Tagaytay. Either way, we can’t wait what the next one has in store for us.
