In pop culture tradition, May 4th is dubbed as Star Wars day to celebrate Goerge Lucas’ franchise legacy. Fans all over the world pay homage to this commemorative day with the expression “May the Fourth be with you.” In Mandaue City last Friday, they made their fair share of celebration by having Stormtroopers bring the Philippine flag down as end-of-the-day ceremony.
The mayor of Mandaue, Mayor Luigi Quisumbing, is known to be a Lucas fan boy as this was not the first time he interacted with Stormtroopers in the city. In January last year, he joined Cebu Troopers in a gift-giving program which took place in the children’s ward of the Perpetual Succour Hospital.
