Yesterday, Bawal Clan dropped their second track in two consecutive weeks and released the full music video for “R U Aaliyah” on Youtube. The song, part of the awaited Bawal Tapes Vol.1, isolated itself from brickwalling and unrealistically fast hi-hats with their smooth production channeling the vintage R&B. Compared to Bawal Clan’s gritty track “FNTNL” which had its music video debut last Saturday, this one delivered slick and sensual trap on top of soul backing vocals perfect for the bedroom.
The viscous sound of the consistent synth, the right amount of compression for the vocals not to be too overbearing, and the light dryness of the beat recollected into a well balanced mix definitely make this track one of our favorites. Not to mention the striking streetwear and dance by our favorite girl Butta B.
