Cardi B’s ascent up the hip hop ladder has been a rapid joyride, but hit after hit has proven her momentum hasn’t slowed one bit. So, no, she’s not the “new Nicki Minaj” or “female Migos.” She is Cardi B—a class of her own. Her latest music video release for “Bartier Cardi” shows just that.
The visual is a collaboration with fashion photographer Petra Collins—the same artistic eye responsible for the mystic-like Gucci campaigns which look straight out of a lucid dream and of course, that iconic image of Frank Ocean in a sequined skirt.
Ahead of her release for her highly-anticipated debut album, Invasion of Privacy, the video features all the glitz and glamour of Old Hollywood. Mansions, models, pools, and hedonism all in check, and all captured through Petra’s unique, hazy lens. Offset, the rapper’s fiancé, also makes a quick cameo in one of the scenes while 21 Savage gets into a rope bondage situation.
