We get first word on Ourselves the Elves’ upcoming debut album

By Celene Sakurako

After hitting their two-year anniversary since the release of second EP Geography Lessons last month, four-piece indie folk band Ourselves the Elves officially come out of their creative hiatus, with a tweet showing the progress of their upcoming still unnamed debut album.

As lead singer Alyana Cabral says, “We needed time to grow as individuals; musically, personally, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. We all grew in different ways and at our own paces, but we’re still growing together, and the album is an effort to capture that.”

As seen in the attached picture of the album’s “progress report,” the album will consist of 13 tracks, including song “Wounds” from early this year, but Alyana stresses that “the tracklist isn’t final yet.” As of now, only two out of the 13 tracks written by her and their bassist Paula Castillo, have been completed, but none are set to stone.

As she says, they’ve been recording at their “friend’s house for almost a year now (or more),” but nothing is final yet; “We’re moving at our own pace, and our first album is something that we really want to do right. We haven’t set a release date yet, but hopefully sometime next year.”
