Earlier this year, there’s been a lot of rumors of a Harry Potter augmented reality (AR) game coming out. In a similar fashion to the popular game Pokémon GO, the Harry Potter version was conceptualized for ordinary muggles to experience the wizarding world through their mobile phones.
Pottermore eventually broke with the news that Portkey Games will be releasing this game next year, titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
On the post, it reads, “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, launch date to be announced, will use state-of-the-art augmented reality technology on smartphones, so a player can view the real world through a wizarding world lens.”
“The game encourages you to step outside with your phone, explore your local surroundings and take part in a series of adventures, such as searching for magical creatures and bumping into iconic wizarding world characters along the way. You’ll also be able to cast spells, discover mysterious artefacts, and build up your very own, illustrious wizarding career.”
To us, this sounds bloody amazing. The team behind the game will be in partnership with Niantic, the company best known for Pokémon GO.
