What’s #ScoutFaves?
It’s a weekly story where we list down our favorites from the past seven days and write about it. Sometimes we stick to certain themes, but most of the time it becomes a list of unrelated, but much-loved songs, merch, events, and other things. A beautiful mess.
It’s already Tuesday, but just because we’re a day late doesn’t mean we’ve changed faves already. We’re not fickle like that. Erratic, maybe, but definitely not fickle. We’ve been busy selling our #ScoutTrust merch, working on the next issue, and a few more things that keep us busy.
Here’s a thought: if someone tracked our faves from the past few months to today, what kind of trends would pop up? Someone should do that. That’d be interesting to say the least.
Anyway, let’s get to it:

Mini Stop fried chicken – There’s a reason why some people dark horse the Mini Stop chicken even against favorites like Chickenjoy and KFC: it’s that damn good. So sinful, actually, that I only have it when I’m really jonesing for it. Like really jonesing.
Tagaytay – It’s cold everywhere because it’s February, but nothing beats the evening chill of Tagaytay. 10/10 would still rather freeze to death than get a heatstroke.

MTV’s Awkward – This has got to be one of my most favorite shows ever. I remember eagerly watching this back in college every time a new episode comes out. I suddenly missed the show so I decided to watch it again while I nurse a fever over the weekend. #TeamMatty 5ever
Factory for Hire’s baseball cap – I usually don’t sport baseball caps because I feel like they don’t look that good on me. But I gave this cap a try and I actually like how it looks on me. The line’s design is also giving off this ’90s vibe which is so on point.

Beauty and the Beast (1991) – The final Beauty and the Beast trailer came out last week and it gave me chills; man, I even teared up a bit. I’m not a big Emma Watson fan but the trailer looked gorgeous. I don’t give a shit if people are saying it’s Stockholm Syndrome or whatever–Beauty and the Beast will forever be my favorite animated Disney movie. I rewatched the classic version and got reminded of how fantastic and timeless it is. And no matter how many times I’ve watched the film, I still cried in the end.
Dvsn – I suck. They’ve been around since 2015 (and also signed onto OVO…) and I only found them recently. I really love the genre that these guys are playing and it’s great that there are lots of emerging alternative R&B artists nowadays.

Syd – Fin – Smooth as butter. I wish me and my friends were like the OF Crew. I wish I had Syd’s voice.
Sampha – Process – Scratch that, I wish I had this dude’s voice. Remember Drake’s “Too Much?” Remember “Don’t Touch My Hair?” Every track this dude touches turns to gold. And a whole project that’s all him? Goddamn.
SPACEGIRL GEMMY – Trash EP – I love this project. I love that Slug Christ’s in it. I love this self-reflexive kawaii trap music. And yeah I hear those Filipino references in the tracks. So SPACEGIRLGEMMY in Manila, when? Or did I already miss it?
